Default water temp guage

finally got round to gettin a water temp guage its a electric one and got the sender with it looks like it repaces the standard one in the front of head but my question is there a way i can run both standard and aftermarket guages i know the standard one is useless but would like them both working just for looks

yeah surely, if you mount the new sensor somewhere else, just lookin on ebay there are kits to mount it in the top hose etc, or if our not running water cooling on ur turbo maybe you could mount the sensor in the top hose where the turbo water feed once was???

thats good idea was just thinkin it needed screwing in or does everyone just unplug the original one

The early mk5 escorts ran the water temp gauges off a plug that was straight into a rubber hose. might it be worth sourcing one of those?

actually, that might be the fan switch.
Someone else will confirm i'm sure.

Think burton power do one that screws into a silicone or standard hose
