Default rs turbo boost problem

ok i had my rs s2 out the other day and was running perfect, i have a in car boost control and i was pissing about and i turned the boost up and put my foot down a very small amount and i heard a big pop and bang, i pulled over and the bottom boost pipe from turbo to bottom of intercooler was off, so i re-attached and checked all other pipes before setting off, obviously turned boost back down aswel, everything seemed ok until i was out of traffic and put foot down again and seems to be either overboosting or underfueling, not sure, i have adjustable actuator arm/rod and have since turned that down and that has made it run a little better but still very weak boost/ no boost when engine hot over 3500 revs and on motorway it struggles at 60mph on slight incline,

i was thinking my actuator is knackered or do i have a serious problem or is it something simple

i have checked pipes, inlet, intercooler, metering unit, and took turbo off and that looks fine with no cracks, checked plugs and 1 & 2 were fine but 3 & 4 were slightly sutted on the rim,

any ideas chears

stop messing around with it a take it to a professional mate. best advice there is. MFi is a tricky thing to get to grips with properly and you may end up doing more harm than good. also get rid of the in car boost control. they only lead to trouble in my opinion.

It happens to the best of us mate lol, it seems like you have checked all the basics best bet is to get it to your tuner.

As said about taking to tuner and ditching the in car boost controller you would be far better off with the standard Amal valve and a set up, also as you found out you can end up inadvertently turning the boost up higher than it should be which is dangerous, it's not that MFI is difficult it's just people try to think of it as EFI and apply electronic practices where as it's a mechanical affair.

It sounds as you are producing very little to no boost and that is why the car is sluggish which would show more on incline probably a result of the actuator being adjusted. Only other thing could be is a boost leak.

Big pop and a bang after to much boost is usually the ecu cutting off the boost. Be sure to check the vaccuum hose that goes to the underside of the ecu. Take the heater out of the bay to see it. The can sometimes wiggle their way under the heater and get squashed!

Ditch the incar boost controller as well, nothing but problems them things. Changing the boost on a daily basis causes nothing but problems. get it set up to a comfortable ammount, then if you are not ragging the car, just use half the throttle. lol

Get it to tuners asap. MFI is a nightmare on the rollers, let alone on the driveway!

cheers for the reply's, my problems have been no end, first off the car sat for 2 month with no t&t and wouldn't run, i got it running and just couldn't get it perfect so i bit the bullet and paid £130 for rolling road tuner who got the car started then 2 mins into getting it going he fiddled and i came away with a car that wouldn't start at all and £130 down, so i went away ready to break the car but im very persistant and didn't give up, eventualy i got her running again got her t&t and was running perfect until daft me turned the boost up, (boost controller was already fitted) so as im sure you can all understand im not going to rush into taking it back to any tuners yet, my plan is to find the problem, sort it then book it in for msd in blackpool, if i was closer i would have taken it there straight away, so realy hopeing someone had similar problem, lol cheers
