Well........
I've just come back from mapping and hit 150mph in 4th at 7050rpm
Peeking at 26psi and holding about 22ish... drops off a bit as the revs increase, not sure yet if I've reached the limit of my little .36 housing or if I need a bit more preload on the actuator, it's only at 10psi ATM.
But really really pleased, no sign of Det and nothing fell off the car so all good! lol

Fookin awesome mate, i'm jealous lol Sounds very good so far, bet you're pleased! At long last mine's coming out the garage tomorrow too to go and get live mapped, want to be hitting 2bar and 7k + by close of play tomorrow all being well

wicked looks like its going to be a fun summer for everyone as all i need to finish mine is a set of greens and a cosworth tb and then just needs mapping so will go for around 250bhp

sounds good to me, i did 150mph in my xr2, won't be doing that again on any roads for sure, car was way too light, not quite the same revs as you as i was using diesel gearing on my zvh.
good result pal.

My spec is fairly similar to yours really, in essence:
steel rods/forged pistons (+1mm)
ported head/big valves
newman cam/solids
omex 600
turbo dynamics md02rs t3 (stage 3 t3)
greddy profec b boost controller
cts stage 2 box/cp2000-35 cluch lol
Old engine with standard rods/pistons made 245bhp @1.5 bar on the engine dyno so whilst i don't expect the power to go up much due to not changing the turbo just yet, looking to rev the engine higher to make it more useable and a touch more boost to give it that bit more kick and a dose of torque (and hopefully reliability)! As with yours i'm guessing, pretty much max out whatever it's capable of then can always back the boost off on track days etc if i need to

Yeah very similair!
Your turbo is good for 270bhp'ish whereas mine is only good for 240bhp'ish and the rest of your spec good for it too (i'm guessing you have a good IC), so with the right boost and mapping you should see some really good figures!
Let us know how you get on!!
Mine will be mapped to the limit of the turbo and then for daily driving i'll run around a bar, with the extra boost available at the press of a button, should keep it nice and reliable

She's EFI now she was running yesterday untill somehow the voltage got reversed through the wiring and it cooked the ECU or summat i aint sure that's basically what i got told
She should be out monday mate to which then she's been sold, P.S i may have the car back long enough to sell it

Yeah thats what i'm thinking!
Richie did PM to say yesterday... suprised me, must be making good power though, that turbo with his manifolds will flow well!
I have not looked to see what my injector load is yet, i'll have a peek later....

SADLY today hasn't gone to plan as i'd have liked (typically) lol but i'm not too downhearted really.
Addressed a few issues that my friend pointed out (spanners out), and he spent a lot of time on idle/low end and off boost fuelling etc as i really want the car driving nicely again so that was good.
The other good news is that the new engine is consuming more air thus needing more fuel everywhere, and that as well as a boost leak he pointed out leads us to think that we really will see some improvements with this engine
That's where the good news ended......started building the revs up and realised that at approx 6.5k a nasty rattle that almost sounds like det appears which i'm 99% sure is valve float, which i think may be the bloody valve springs i changed when the new engine was built.....really kicking myself for listening to David Newman who insisted i should change from the kent springs i'd always used and use their single springs!!!
If it is indeed just that obviously it's not the end of the world but it is a damn pain as all the gear was hooked up to the car and i was hoping to be running full boost by now
What springs are you using Karlos, i remember a thread a while back about them so i'll need to get some more asap!

Intercooler wise GRS mate, no probs with act's!!

I'm using stock Ford springs as advised by Karl Norris when he did my head mate, no probs so far!
Gearboxman Gear/Speed calculator as pictured below, my rev limiter is set at 7050rpm which we hit in 4th, and they are my ratios and tyre size, speedo was off the clock as you would expect
Mate it's a little scary!! TBH the whole car is fucking dangerous, if you drop it down from say 5th to 3rd and boot it the torque steer is just incredible, pulls you all over the road, i'm almost worried about overtaking incase my car pulls me into the side of the car i'm passing!! lol

Hmm... yeah not quite what you had hoped for, but very good the your VE has increased as you say should be good power/response gains to be had

Did you buy the springs from ford, just asking for rst valve springs yeah? I hope that's all it is as never had an issue before whatsoever!
Yours sounds like you're getting the best out of it now too mate, they do pull so strongly once you get up above 20psi don't they, mine even on the 1.2bar it's now mapped at up to 6k feels really strong
#24
I used the old springs that were in my head, Karl said thats best as they are plenty heavy enough to close the valves and will not wear the cam out too fast.
I think I am getting the best out of it mate, it pulls well from 2500rpm right the way to 7050rpm!
My turbo is flat out I think, and even if it's not my injectors are at 90% duty so cant fuel for anymore now safely anyway lol

Cool, a nice big powerband too, that's what we want
I imagine if you haven't got the bigger exhaust housing then it will indeed be on its knees at that boost and that rpm, i was a bit sceptical about whether mine will be up to it tbh but yours sounds like it's doin well!
What injectors are you using?
Looks like i may have to have an ask around about the valve springs, don't really wanna be fitting another set that aren't up to high rpm, can't bloody find the old ones either lol

lol Nightmare! I'm sure someone will have a set on here.
No, I'm only on a .36 exhaust housing, and a 55trim comp wheel, using VXR 480cc injectors, what are you using?
With your T3 you should do really well, although a little laggier than mine you'll have bigger balls flat out! lmao

I'll be calling up in the next week or so to book 4 maybe 5 of us in for power runs mate! Just got one more car to finish mapping
No mate, strictly road use only I dont want to break it!
#32
Nothing mate, for more power I would need to go bigger on the turbo exhaust housing, that will give me more lag which I dont want and i'd need a stronger gearbox (well might do anyway ).
So it's finished really, see what it makes on the rollers just out of interest, drive it and enjoy it!

Mine is indeed a little laggier than yours from what you've said, though the new engine does seem less laggy if anything, was on full chat by 3,500rpm which i wasn't disappointed with but i'll have to wait a bit longer to see the end result.
Christian.....don't know about BIG cars, certainly in the case of mine/karlos's as they're not really at the spec level to break records lol but i know what you're saying i too will be interested to see how some of the others being finished now will get on
Chris.....yeah was a bit hacked off but these things happen, hopefully it is only the valve springs at fault.

Full boost by 3500rpm is fine mate!!
Mine varies depending on load and gear from 3000rpm-3300rpm but i'm talking 26psi! Always Makes 10psi by about 2500rpm which is nice and early

Thats mad karlos! I wanna do 150 in mine, but it must be a proper twitchy chocolate starfish time! When I maxed mine one night it when off the clocks, so reading 140+ on the clocks so I guessed at something like 130ish. after i did it I pulled in to a lay-by for a fag to let my ass recover. Ive been a supa at nearly 160 and that wasnt half as scary!

TBH I was concentrating on listening for Det and looking at my laptop screen more than the road!
It felt like I was in a bobsled when we cornered (by cornered I mean slight bends in the road!), just being thrown left to right but felt really solid if you know what I mean?! lol
