ok, just going down the road in the rs, all of a sudden a really high pitched squeak started coming from the engine, pulled over, opened the bonnett and it sounded like it was coming from the rocker cover/cam cover or there abouts!!??

also it now wont idle!!

wat the feck is it??!!!!!

please help lads..........

 

cam belt snaped?

 

See if its got a air leak from the idle screw on the throttle body

 

no its none of the above, it drives, just makes a nice and loud squeling noise and doesnt idle, if i take my foot of the accelerator, it cuts out!!

Fan belts ? Sounds silly maybe, but your alternator won't be driven too well at idle and you may not have enough juice to run the engine until you rev it up.

 

Could be poss waterpump or cam belt tensioner.

 

i think it sound more like an air leak check all vacumn hoses and also the brake servo
