Wheels help for a S2 RS Turbo
Alright guys and gals. I have a minted Series 2 Escort RS Turbo and have owned it now for about 1 year and 6 months. I've got a set of 16 inch Mondeo GTI wheels on it and they do look great on the car but I'm thinking of a fresh set of alloys for the summer.
I've seen a nice set of 17 inch rims but not sure if 17's would fit on the MK4 Series 2 RS Turbo?? Need to advice cos I've seen a nice set of Lenson alloys which are white with a red lip around the edge. My Turbo is Red so the white wheels would look amazing on the car.

Well yeah I have thought about RS 7 spokes but everyone says thats the wheels to get for it. Tbh I would like something different and unique. Like a set of wheels no other RST owner has .
Tell you something though I would love to know what Ford were thinking when they decided to stick a set of awful looking 15 inch rims on the cars when they were first launched in the 80's cos tbh the standard rims look terrible. Just dont suit the car at all IMO.
I do love the Escort Cosworth rims but not sure if I would encounter driving issues after fitting the 16 inch Cosworth wheels??

well the cossie wheels fit but iirc they catch on full lock
17" ones do fit but some people have had rubbing issues on rear depends if car been lowered and by how much and it was only with people in rear

TBH I wouldnt want the rubbing issues cos at the moment my S2 RS Turbo is lowered on Koni fully adjustables but I dont know how much its lowered by but it sits low.
I know for sure that if I fit bigger wheels there would be rubbing issues. I love the cossies wheels but as you say wouldnt want the issues at full lock. Dont want to spoil the driving of the car. I mean the S2 RS Turbos are hard to drive at the best of times especially when it doesnt have powr steering. I use another car on a regular basis for work and it has power steering.
I think the white wheels I have seen would look amazing on the car just the white wheels against the red paintwork.
Heres a link to the wheels I've seen - http://www.autopartuk.com/index.php?...duct&pid=10028

Escort Cossie rims imho are a non starter if you want to use the car properly. I run 17's on mine and TBH I feel the optimum size is an ET35 16" rim not wider than 7J. The 17's do affect the handling but not to a terribly detrimental extent. If I had to make my choice again I would go 16's as it is I'm quite happy to stick with the 17's
RS 7 spokes look the business. Be carefull choosing your wheel based on wanting something not done before as you might end up being different for the sakes of it which usually mean the car looks hideous. Pic a load of wheels you like that are available in your fitment and Photoshop (or even PC Paintbrush) to give you an idea of how they will look. You may even stumble on something a little different that works well.

rs7's look very nice but mine rub on the front and catch sometimes on the rear. I'm thinking of changing my wheels for 16's as i much prefer a better handling car.
