oops done the headgasket
Oops ive done the headgasket on my turbo, so pissed off as ive only just got it back on road! cant get the header tank cap off which is a bit anoying so cant check fluids, but ive got no mayo in the filler cap but alot in the dipstick pipe and it only gets warm blowers when in slow moving traffic but when you stat moving i loose temp in my heaters,
so what am i looking at? possible warped head, skim required?
any ideas on gaskets to use? how to clean the mayo out the engine after ive done the headgasket?

why do people worry about it, Ł40 skim, Ł18 headgasket (payen) from motorfactors, non stretch head bolts, circa Ł25 so you can use them again and again.
timing belt Ł20 and oil/filter Ł20 antifreeze and time doing it, no biggy IMO.
around Ł120 and three hours of you time and you're done.
a lass i know told me about a freelander HG going, went to halfords and got charged around a grand for it to be sorted and they fooked up that too.

I strongly disagree with the non-stretch headbolt thing. Ford didn't make them stretch so they could sell a set of headbolts each time! It's because the block and head are made from dissimilar material which expands and contracts at different rates. Hence the need for them to stretch.

Sorry if anyone works for Halfords on here but at my local branch wouldn't let them loose changing a bulb let alone a head gasket.
I have not stretch bolts in my cvh and been like that for nearly 5 years now with no issues (said it now so touch wood) Stretch bolts are not expensive anyway if you prefere that route.
The sludge can be removed be running a good oil flush in the car and doing an oil change once all up and running.
Hope all gets sorted.
