Have you checked the timing?

did the cambelt on it and checked the timing but it still it had the surge, then renewed the cam and followers, re-checked the timing and still had the issue. Im gettin an ecu with an ahmed bayjoo chip on it so ill get the 31 actuator and then see whether its the actuator.

are you sure its not just a boost spike? when mine initaly comes on boost it peaks at about 18 ish then drops and holds at 14ish and does this with every gear change when your giving it beans. but if your not proper beaning it. it dosent spike just pulls 14 and holds.

i'd be putting money on actuator spring getting hot and going weak, retarded timing could cause a surge though.
