Default Leccy Problems

this is getting a bit to familiar!

ok
i'll start with whats wrong:

1/
after running with the lights on, when you turn off ign, the lights stay on, i have to return the ign and turn the lights off.
there is a buzzing, whilst the lights are on with the ignition off.

2/ if i don't turn the ign on, and turn the lights on, i can't turn them off unless i turn the ign on, and then turn the lights off. again a buzzing with lights on

the buzzing when its heard, seems to come from somewhere below the mirror adj knob, behind the dash.

please bare with me!

also i mentioned in a previous thread that there was a flickering, hardly noticable with the lights on, any of them.

today i had the clocks out, to replace a light above the tacho, that had gone, also i have 3 gauges in the heater panel, boost and oil pressure which are mechanical and a act guage, which is digital, all of these were wired into a live feed, so when the ign comes on, they light up.

anyway i replaced the blown light, and decided to run the 2 mechanical guages into the dash clocks, so they only come on when the dash lights up. the act gauge i kept on the live feed, the earth i attached to a earth strap at the back of the fire wall.

everything looked fine, or so i thought!
i turned the lights on to check, without the ign on, worked a treat.then i turned the ign on and fuse went ?
anyway i put in a 30 amp, to see if i could sort it

with ign on, no dash lights come on, sidelights are fine, no hi beam, and the fuel comp don't come on.
with headlights on, fuel comp don't work, and the fuel pump primes

we then noticed that brake lights don't come on, but the dash lights up with pedal depressed.

with ign off, still no brake lights, but we have dash light, derpressing the pedal mkaes the dash lights go off, and the oil light come on, and the buzzing starts.

with no ignition, turn the lights on, makes the fuel pump prime, oh and sometimes the act guage comes on with the pedal depressed, and sometimes buzzing.

i did start the car, but it idled really really badly, and kept cutting out, tho i had no problems before

what the hell is going on?

i spent about 6 hours today, to end up excatly where i started, no actually worse, any ideas where to begin would help

i thinking it may be immobliser?

The buzzing you can hear is the flasher relay behind the dash (blue one IIRC)

It may share the wiper motor's earth point.

Glad it's sorted tho!

cheers Lee,

still get the buzz when i turn off the ign, with the lights on? if i take the key out, they won't turn off, i have to put the key back in , and turn on ign, then turn them off ?????
i did think that someone in the past had fitted a light on alarm, as i have had this since getting the car.

it was the wiper motor earth point !

bloody electrics!
