I plan to sell my box of MTX odd's/end's soon. There is a shifter (worn but OK to get things running), bits and pieces of mounts, clutch cable, release arm, cover plate and my template driveshaft (so it can be test fitted, then used to get a proper one made).

Not sure if that will be any use to you. I'll add it to the For Sale section once I get a chance.

You can't fit any gearbox with a rear starter motor to cvh i've found. The draw backs to an RS2000 box is the mounts are orchward, rod selector is fiddly and doesn't feel as good as cable and you can't fit a focus rs clutch in the bell housing so your really limited on choice of clutch. But there you go, all MTX boxes have pro's and con's, you've got to choose what suits the car.

hi ive tryd several types boxes, old s1 was runnin 280@wheels,fitted totaly standard mtx from mk5 rs 2000,also used flywheel from same car,and helix paddle clutch. reason being,to see what it could cope with, and i done 500+miles hard miles and i abused it,and i couldnt brake it,broke shaft though.

but after doing 6 speed gatrac mod,its actually easier conversionin my opinion. and as said above cable change is much better which is standard on 6speed.???????
decisions decisions m8.

RS2000 box has got to be the hardest to physically fit, even more so in a mk4. But you save on being able to use orginal clutch and speedo cable.
How did you get on with the helix clutch Wul? What sort of money are they? was that on a 2.0 flywheel or 1.8? cheers

standard clutch as in rs 2000 or escort rs item, cause its not possible to use standard clutch from escort rst as main layshaf spline is totally different, also mk 5 escort flywheel 2.0 or 1.8 are the same,240mm.had to run helix paddle just due to poweer it had to cope with, was not very user friendly but wasnt to bad.it was approx 350 for full kit.

wasnt cvh,was 2.1zvh,made drive shafts myself, took 4 months in total, start to finish, made and fabricated everything myself, due to i think i was 1 of first to do it,therefore had nothn to go by was just case of trial/error,only thing i bought was clutch.
was well worth effort though!!!!!!!

Where are you guys getting the drive shafts from, i understand they are custom made and just wanted a contact and ruff price to consider. Going for the Focus RS box in my S2 as practically a full Focus RS engine conversion.

Have asked oddkidd before about their conversion but they don't seem interested in just supplying the drive shafts
