3" Mongoose system making way to much noise
Hello Guys,
I just drove the first 500 km in my car after a full rebuild, but the noise of the 3" Mongoose system is just too much in the car! I only have one muffler on the end. Is there also a 3" system with 2 mufflers or are there any silencers i can place in the exhaust?
for the record i have a 4" inch tailpipe
cheers

Maybe being from the continent, your used to quieter cars?
I'm not trying to sound funny, but why else would you fit a stainless system with a 4" tailpipe if not for the noise?

Yeah i am used to quieter cars, but also have driven some that aren't but the noise is so low and loud that it not fun anymore haha. I could buy the whole system 2nd hand so for a good price and thought it would do good to the spooling of the turbo.
I'm now thinking of making something in the tailpipe and reducing the exhaust diameter there so noise will be less. But i have to take a look what i'm going to do...

preferance. the only reason anyof us on this site have RS's is because there fun. if we wanna go quick we would just buy a Łgrand evo and drive it forever. if we wanted a reliable car, buy a golf.
so if u want a quite RS make it quite, but i like mine loud.

and how loud IS "loud"? Thats my point. If you buy an off the shelf system they ALL SOUND THE SAME! Just because one guy wants it quieter doesn't mean all the rest are too loud by comparison.
(i hope that comes across!, i've had a few cans )

I think exhaust is too loud if people turn stare your car and one if you drive 70mph and you have to raise your voice to talk passengers in car. My exhaust setup do not anymore turn heads as it has 2 mufflers but when driviing in highways it is still too loud.
Nothing is more annoying than some calibra with direct exhaust and some cap headed fool revving it in neighbour when i try to sleep.

i don't really mind loud cars, but driving on the motorway is a pain in the arse.
My rs sounds mental on boost with the 4" scorpion etc etc, but my neighbors all have young kids so i need something quieter. Also i don't like attracting attention for the wrong reasons ie) police, people constantly think your a speeding dick etc
So i need a quieter system too. Every one has recommended mongoose to me as well.
any idea on where i can get one?

If you want good and quiet exhaust, dont buy mongoose.
I bet there is good business idea to design high flowing and silent exhaust package for s2 rst. I am really wondering how there is no more different exhaust setups available to rst.

Basically, i doubt about quiet exhaust system with only one silencer. I have now 2 silencers and it is too loud, in the middle is Simons 300mm free flow silencer and in the rear is mongoose muffler with is basically crap. I did try one muffler which is not free flowing in the rear but noise was even louder in the highway.

Antii -trust me, the power engineering is the quietest exhaust for the RST by a large margin. it is VERY quiet. I can't find a picture at the moment, perhaps someone else will post one.

I have a longlife free flowing 2.5" system and its pretty quiet.
When I first got the car the first thing i did was go to them and get a bigger backbox with tighter packing inside as it was just too loud!
Its now got a full system off them so is fairly quiet but its always gonna make a fair bit of noise with only a backbox imo.
