ok I have an escort turbo engine sat in my garage, when it was in the car it would blow off the oil cap when revved up.
Is this a sign of a pumped engine.
Does it need a rebuild to get rid of the problem?
any ideas folks

thanks for the replys folks
crikey, a rebuild, the wife will go mental if I mention that to her!!
Looks like it is time to ditch the Rs turbo running gear and put something else in its place then that wont cost a fortune to get hold of

you gotta relise..
Everyone says, Oil rings, Rebuild, ect ect.. but there not always correct.
first off- Oil rings will spit a hudge cloud of smoke out the zorst everytime off boost.
second - oil beathers are SHIT on RST standard ones. even more so when the engine is not standard.
3rd - if you use a crhome rocker cover then you'll have no joy of keeping the oil cap down. as the rubber has nothing to grib onto. if you wanna keep the cover in chrome just sand down the oil lip and make sure its ruff.
alot of them pop off. i thought mine had gone when the cap poped off, oil pressure was fine, check the compresstion that was fine, removed the head and sump and then went onto removing the pistons and crank and all was fine.

.in my experience of rst's when this sort of thing happens 99% of the time it usually means bottom end failure, from topics on here and my days of fukin about with rst's i cant recall these symptoms ever turning out to be just a blocked breather, although it can happen ive never seen it.
and secondly, thats the perfect way to fuk oil pump up,even the smallest bit of swarf is enough to fuk a pump, there are other ways of sorting that
