Default Fuel Gauge goes down when throttle is used?

Basically its fine when the car is driving but as soon as I press the throttle and the revs rise the fuel lever goes down but if I then hold the revs consistently it goes back up again?

Any ideas what that could be? I'm guessing a bad earth?

nah that's been sorted. Wonder of it's the clocks themselves?

Sounds very similar to a problem I once had. Basically my petrol tank was fucked inside. Everytime I accelerated, needle would go down due to petrol being in the back of the tank and I had half a tank. I solved it by putting a new petrol tank on. This is only through my experience tho. Let us know how you get on.

bad earths as you thought???

the whole electrical system is coming under more load when you boot it, things like fuel pump working a lot harder.
and the age of the wiring loom could be showing up???

just my guess.

what happens if you brake very hard for a decent length of time? say coming down from 70+ does the fuel go up?

I don't think it is the fuel surging, as it happens even if I just slowly press the throttle going from 30-40MPH etc. I'll try another set of clocks first I think. Might still have my old ones.

i used 2watch mines drop all the time 2then i realised it was just the excessive use of a heavy foot on the throttle! lol!
and also as mentioned above when goin round right hand corners and roundabouts it used 2drop as well! if it was under a quarter tank of fuel it used 2spit and splutter and nearly cut out but that was just the petrol being taken away from the pump i think? lol!

My XR3i does this aswell, as soon as the fuel lever gets below half a tank, everytime you accelerate it drops right down and then goes back up when coasting, but as it gets lower the lever even goes past the red reserve area?

any body else solved this yet apart from changing the tank?

fuel goes down when throttle is used... cosworth ?
haha jokin.

myn does it when i corner, go left it goes up and go right it goes down but its just fuel surging on mine so ive left it.
you could try all the connections or you could change the tank.

Turned out to be a faulty set of clocks.
