For those interested in MegaSquirt EFI...

Over the last year I've done a lot of reading/research, asked a lot of questions when speaking to experienced mappers, until I was satisfied I had enough knowledge to try it myself.
Key is not to guess anything, if your not sure then ask someone that knows
Thanks for the comments mate, i'm very happy with my results

as above, it's not so hard when you figure what every little change does.
i found it hard work when i started as i had a forum that took days to get a reply from and the guy i got it all from was slow at replying.
read, read and read some more.
feel free to ask anything i can help on too, i don't want a million how to questions, but i'll help pointing you in the right direction, just never ask about closed loop idle as it's biatch to setup if the alternator is not supplying a constant 14v.

For anyone that didnt know (including me) what BSFC is...
It's the ratio of an engines fuel consumption to an engines power output as measured at the flywheel.
BSFC has units of grams of fuel per kilowatt-hour (g/kWh) or pounds mass of fuel per brake horsepower-hour (lb/bhp-hr).
BSFC is a measure of engine efficiency!
So basically the little CVH is not very efficient and needs a lot more fuel to make the same power as an engine with a lower BSFC

Hello guys,
I have been looking over the photo's of your inlets, but i can't see where everything goes. I can see that most of you blocked the pipe comming of the idle valve.
Now i have the next problem. I have two EFI inlets. One has the place for the idle valve and the other doesn't. Can i blank of the place for the idle valve and connect all the other stuff without any problem? Or is it better to use the other without the idle valve connection.
Was there a early EFI without idle valve? Where is the connection for?
This is the one without
This is the one with idle valve connection
Does anyone have a picture where all the hoses of a EFI inlet go? I'm building my engine up on a stand and not in a car so difficult to see at the moment
Thanks!

for the origninality factor mate, so you could use say the mfi sensors, just need to get the inlet modded to accept necassary injectors, would it still need a trigger wheel though?

Yes you would just need the ECU and loom from www.extraefi.co.uk it's simple to fit if your ok with wiring but mapping is a different ball game all together mate.

Great topic(s) on here about megasquirt. Learned quiet a lot about it. I can tell a success story. I have my own soldered megasquirt running on my cvh EFI with two coil outputs to leave the EDIS unit.
Now I need to get some last bits done to go for MOT and I can start mapping some more on the road as now its a bit shit without insurance and MOT. Base calibration needs some tweaks, but it runs a nice idle!
