Fuel Sender/Float Question
Ever since i have owned my turbo it's never given a true reading on the fuel gauge, unless its totally full that is lol I know when its nearing empty when it goes back up to 1/4 again... lol, ots wierd to explain, but thats how i've go used to it all these years!!
So... how easy is it to sort this once and for all? Is it a simple case of just swapping a sender unit, or would a new tank be needed?
Any info would be appreciated, including costs or links...anything

well mine used to miss read, so i filled it up to the neck, replaced the needle at the top and waited.
4 days later it started to splutter and cough, but the needle was just under half. so i dunno, i just left it after that. as long as i know what its at its ok. i mean its a turbo, theres ALWAYS a can of unleaded in the boot.

so its not the sender unit/float in the tank thats causing this? The gauge moves freely... like full tank when going round a roundabout lol... So the gauge is just buggered?

I got a replacement instrument gauge coming, so will see if that cures it.
Is it possible to remove Lockwood dials and then re-use them again? Hope so, otherwise gonna look a bit weird!

Hi
My fuel gauge is crazy since last two weeks.
At first start the needle go to top full possition on gauge like if I were running with tank full of petrol and after some running arround the city the needle goes to the real measurement possition.............
I think will be the plug of gauge on dash but not sure, I will clean it and see what happend...
Maybe sender unit/float in the tank thats causing this?
Sorry for my english mates!!

The best option is to try the cheapest first.............
Check wires and gauge to see If you could fix the problem.........

I have to check that earth point.
I have problems with fuel gauge too, when tank is full it works perfectly. But when i have only 50% gas left and i drive in corner the needle goes down and raises later when i drive straight..

Thats what i get too. When i have a full tank, the needle works as it should, but the minute i go under half a tank, the gauge does what it likes and doesnt give a true reading. When i have a quarter of a tank, the needle is right at the bottom, but when im on empty, the needle sits at 1/4 tank.... Its a very weird one to call! All i know is that when the needle sits at 1/4 and doesnt move, its time to refuel
