If its an RS Turbo escort the emission limits for it will be 3.5 max so the limit of 0.5 he told you it should have been is wrong !

And if the reading was 6.0 its running way too rich, especially if you have just paid to have it tuned !

I bet your idle screw is almost hanging out running 6%co I used to run my old s2 at 3% and i checked it regularly as they go off quickly. I was running 18lbs boost and it was fine.

It needs setting at the metering head. Then reset the idle.

I wouldnt trust the reading of 6%, he obviously wants to charge you for the setting of co2 so tell him to fuck off & take it somewhere else.

If your tuner has set it right then it will pass mot, looks to me the mot guy just wants to squeeze some ££ out of you.

Plus your tuner wont want to know if its been messed with.

Cheers
Dan

dont let him touch it. if its been set by a tuner and it runs well then leave it. if he's willing to fiddle the test to put it back after then he'll be willing to just use another car on the ramp for that part of the test.

as above really, if your tuner has set it at a set rate and has that many years experiancei think he will know what hes doing. dont let the MOT guy touch it, take it to the tuner you had the work done with and get him to check co rating if your unsure, if it comes back the guy was taking the piss at the mot, then dont go back and go to another garage that specialises in escort RS's

spoke to the tuner and he told me it was set 3.47 so the car is now set to 3.5 co and has an mot. how it was that far out is beyond me and i never tamper with it so the good old mfi strikes again.will be going back to the tuner soon if i decide to chip it
