There has been quite a few threads about coilovers in recent months....i've got the gaz gold's so can't really comment on the cheaper ones but i'm not overly impressed with them tbh, amongst other fitting issues etc the zinc coating they put on them is crap, mine aren't that old, the car lives in a garage and they're going rusty already!

I have heard this about them time and time again! seems that these so called reviews that MAGS rant on about them, makes you wonder if it's not down to the 'free gifts' that these companies send them to test with a no return policy!

i think the no return policy contains 1 important statement, which reads something like:
'You may keep the item sent aslong as you write glowing report about the product, even if you feel that it is only ok, you must not suggest this in anyway, only that the product is - Great, Exceptional, Excellent, Outstanding, the very best, if your unsure of wording then please contact us for suggestions. and as allways please enjoy this product as a gift.'

or something along those lines!

Trouble is suspension is a black art in itself and I think the kit is only as good as it is set up. If you just want a bolt on kit go for koni adjustables

I looked at Gaz but wasn't too impressed with what I saw and what i was told, so was going to go with Koni Adjustables untill some Leda Coilovers came up on eBay. Paid about Ł600 IIRC all in just recon'd and they are far far superiour to the AVO's I had on my previous Fiestas.

Had all of the above done on mine.....proper turrets welded in and diagonal weld in strut brace bars.

That's the problem I have with coilovers I dont really fancy doing that, although given the way that my RS is going (spiralling out of control) I reckon it is inevitable.

rear strengthening depends on whether you carry weight in the back.

got them on mine now too, spoke to gaz themselves and they said the gold kit arnt really suitable for road use as the dampers are too hard so i got the cheaper kit, they fit perfect i specced them with slightly softer springs than they normally come with and the ride is perfect even better with the car corner weighted beats konis in every way the car is now a pleasure to drive and doesnt tourque steer as much anymore i would highly reccomend these for fast road use

People with Gaz coilovers, can you measure what height you have from the ground to the rear arch? Also, would be handy to know how much droop you get when you jack the car up.

Finally, do they knock when you go over bumps?

I'll start......

Gaz Golds - They aren't too hard really.
I have 595mm from the ground to the rear arch
I get very little droop, I haven't measured, but around 50mm
Yes they knock like fuck
