Default is this normal???

hi people..been trying to sort the front calipers on my s1 and noticed that when 1 side is jacked up the wheel doesnt spin freely..i took the caliper off completely thinking this was the problem but its the same.. the wheel will turn but as soon as i let go the wheel stops turning..is this normal? wasnt sure if its something to do with the diff or if something is broken..

Could be bearings. Nothing unusual.

Unless it's really pulling to one side!

dont think its the bearings as they are brand new and only done 3 mile..wasnt sure if this was the way the diff worked..(standard box)..any1 else got any ideas/opinions? cheers

sounds like you have a lsd in the gearbox
if you jack both front wheels up it will spin a bit more freely

Sounds like an S2 box in it to me, jack the front up so both wheels off the ground and turn one wheel and see if the other wheel turns the same way or the other way. If it goes the same way i wound say its a LSD if the other way, you haven't and i'm not sure why its doing that

its definitely a s1 box cos a s2 wont fit..unless the internals had been swapped by the previous owner..it behaves like an lsd should..i will try jacking both sides up and if it turns more freely i take it it must be ok..i park it on a bank and it freewheels down the bank so nothing sticking..was more of a concern that something was on its way out and end up stuck in the middle of nowhere! haha
