quick question for you boyz, trying to sell my escort at the mo, got in it last night, and it made a really bad noise when i started the car, how do you know when they are knackered?

it buzz's anyway, but ive noticed it getting louder over the past week.

any ideas would be good.

it's been buzzing like i said for a week now, louder than norm, it's just made a real loud noise lastnite, working but not right if you can understand that?!

mine makes a funny noise sometimes on start up if i havnt got a lot of petrol!!

never heard of this one before but i have a fuel pump under my bed dont know if it works but you can have it it you want to try it. otherwise id say check the pink relay in the drivers side footwell and try wiring it directly to the battery and see if it changes it may just be dodgy wiring or it may be on its way out

Mines been on the car 14 years / 135k miles, and has been randomly loud and quite - I'm sure its down to the amount of fuel in the tank, I.e. the more in there the greater pressure in the first place. Shouldn't worry if your gunna sell it anyway

if they get louder u either are low on fuel or its on its way out, mine was so loud u heared it buzzing through the car and i got missfire on boost. changed it and job done,

Yep i had the same problem. The fuel pump was always loud, but one day it was really loud and started getting louder, until it stopped buzzing when i turned the ignition.

Fitted a 2nd hand one for a tenner and it's been sound ever since
