Default Too hot?

My car seems to be running very hot the temp gauge reads high but when the car was at the rolling road they said it was the wrong one.

I took the car out today and you could burn your hand on the slam panel. I cracked open the expantion tank lip and there was a lot of bubbles coming from the small hose at the top. The level also raised by a couple of inches. Does this look like a problem or am I paranoid?

Cheers

you just released the pressure in the system by opening the header tank, youre not meant to open it while the engine and water is still hot, theres nothing wrong with the bubling as you mentioned. Unless theres oil in the water. head gasket failure.
but yours dont sound like it is.
on the dash, where does the needle sit? on the 'norm' writing is fine.

have you fitted a fan over-rider switch. what mods have you done?

is your termostat fine? whats your temp sender unit like? you done a water and coolant change lately? your fan does kick in at the correct temp? does it still work?

check the simple things 1st mate

1. Are the fans coming on when the needle is over half way
2. Make sure the rad hoses are not cloged up
3. Drain the water and put some fresh coolent and water in
