Going from my mk4 XR3i Cabriolet i had a few years ago, i remember seeing this plug both male and female, these were never plugged together when i had the car.
I thought at the time it was for the horn, but the horn was working fine without these connected together....so i connected them and nothing changed, horn still worked. i unpluged them and left them disconnected.

hope this helps.

Its not that plug mate, that one is for either heated screen or mirrors, cant remember which. Surely you must have a black plug dangling somewhere with the speedo wires? Must be missing surely off your loom as ive always found the horn wire sort of finds its own location!

Now then mate, ad my dash out today, and basically its a black blug with a brown wire and a white wire going to it-its taped up with the stalk wires and the igniton barrel wires. If it aint with them, its gone walkies from your loom....

That looks like the plug for the optional fuel computer. The horn plug comes out by the ignition plug socket.

I'd agree with that, had my dash out last week and found that plug. The fuel computer is the only thing my car doesnt have and so its just at the back of the dash never been used.

That wire comes from the horn relay to the horn. The plug you need is a 3-pin one with a brown/white wire and a brown wire (as the horn contact works on an earth, not a +12V) with the third pin empty.
