rs cabriolet pictures
as title really, im getting an xr3i cabby this weekend travelling down to newcastle to get it and want to get it sorted like the s2 rs it should have been made originally
anyone got some good pics of ones in diamond white they can show me with a black roof for to give me some inspiration and idea's?
was going to get it fitted with original rs turbo wheels, rs kit, interior, new roof and lower around 30-40mm and leave it at that until i can source a good engine.
hope someone can help and give me an idea of how it'll look when done!
thanks
neil

I always like it when my little XR3i cabriolet blows away a performance car like an RS it makes it so much more enjoyable.
its an advantage not being an RS, there are far better examples about in general for the same price and lets face it a series 2 is not a car to really really aspire to now is it. If during a conversation you state you have a Mk4 series 2 shape RS Turbo most people fail to be impressed.

I call them turbo cabbys because that's what they are

However going by what you are stating if I get a RS turbo shell and turn it rear wheel drive, with a YB its still a RS Turbo due to the chassis numbers. It makes no difference that this was never a production car by Ford.
I pay less insurance on my turbo cabby than I would if it was all in a RS Turbo shell that's a simple fact for me, in my area the RS is a heavily stolen vehicle. Unlike the cabby

And lets be realistic here, we are talking about front wheel drive ford escorts, not Ferrari's or Lambo's the fact that it wears a Ford badge in general makes it as desirable as crabs for most people
Performance wise and spec wise my cabby would stand up against a lot of the RS Turbos on this forum and that's what matters to me, im not bothered about the fact that its not got a certain badge.
The fact remains that most RS Turbo have at some point in their lives been seriously abused as such the badge gives them no more value than a packet of walkers. A mint one is still not a big money car.
We own FWD escorts

You must also remember, that the big cars which break for good money make the most money out of NON RS parts, or performance parts to replace what comes on the RS
After market management, ZVH and Zetec engine builds, CTS gearboxes, coilovers, six links, four pot calipers, rear disk conversions and more
I find it so funny that your on here with a blown MK4 with a RS badge acting like it something special, its NOT
Get a picture up of your engine bay so I can see what a real RS looks like.

its also a fact that everyone is aware of !!
Its like the fact that Ford never made a Focus Cosworth however the people who have done this conversion call the conversion a 'Focos' its a common term for the these types of cars.
Likewise a RS turbo powered cabby is commonly known as a 'RS cabriolet'

The manner in which you stated this fact and remarked no matter how good you make it look it will NEVER be an RS suggests to me that you think that the RS Turbo escort is a far better car and something to aspire to which amused me greatly. It made no difference that the fella in his original post seemed to be aware of this as he called the car an XR3i

it doesnt matter what its called by, rs cab or turbo cab, if its got the rs engine in then its going to still be the same regardless of what name it is tbh! everyone has different names for the car and its preferance, i will know it as an RS Cabriolet as there was a vinyls on the back the style of the rs turbo graphics that had "Escort RS Cabriolet" on Ian's cabby.... its only a name really!

no worries mate, didnt want the thread turning into a warzone thats all admit i'd have either a cab or hardtop, the hood will barely be down on mine up here with the mince weather we're having, but its the first decent one i found on PH, there was a cheap RS hardtop up here but its been on about 10-12 Pikeys hands so im not going anywhere near it, keeps killing turbo's and gearboxes like you would not belive and theres more tigerseal and patch welds on it than hobo's in london!

preferrably white but anything considered tbh mate, its just to get idea's on how it will look and what set of wheels to use, id love a set of rs7's but theyre out my price brakcet atm with working on 2 jobs (Ikea delivery lorries and valeting) and also attending a course in august for welding at college im going to be a busy person then so might be able to afford them end of the year, but for now either standard S2 wheels, mondeo Si's or something else thats different would do mate.
does S2 rs interior go straight in as well and are the dashboards any different on the xr3i from s2 rs's?
