I have a swirl pot becuase i have a fmic that has fans on the front and it helped mine, my car wasnt overheating it just used to creep up in traffic. in thick traffic it hits just over half way then the twin fans kick in and it drops between quater and half.
In my opinion you can never have enough heat aids, im putting my fans on a switch also fitting water injection and i already have a cossie thermostat switch on mine.
But i do agree with Karlos you should find out why its overheating first.

As mentioned above, the thermostat has a air release point as a standard design. Wont hurt to put another one along the line, and run both air release lines back to the header tank. Plus if its ya thing, bit of extra bling under the bonnet!!
