The S1 has a 4.27 final drive as opposed to the more sensible 3.82 of the S2. The diffs have minor differences. The only major difference is that the S1 diff has a 6-bolt pattern for the crown wheel and the S2 diff has 8 bolts. Naturally hte crown wheel can be drilled and retapped for hte other bolt pattern, but it's not the nicest of jobs. I've done it once and wouldn't recommend it for the average Joe.
