rear disc conversion/rear hub question...
ok, bought a tatty old rs turbo a while back, for the rear disc conversion it had on it, to fit to my resto project
i stripped down the rear hubs, and ended up with the following:
i then took the outer parts to have wheel studs fitted (the part circled in yellow being 1 of them) and subsequently 1 has cracked when the stud has been pressed in
so iv started out finding a replacement, and this is where the problem lies
i found some1 who said they had the outer part i was after, off a base spec mk4, with the smaller drums. although when i got there, the outer part is infact a complete drum shell, with the 4 threaded wheel holes in it, not a separate piece as pictured
so i went to a breakers and showed them that pic, and the only part they had that matched was off a van, and it looked the same, so i grabbed that. but upon finally gettin my old parts back from the machinist, this new hub section is slightly deeper, and the internals are bigger for a larger bearing
so, what the hell are these off?!
people keep telling me the RST has the same outer drum shell with threaded wheel bolt holes in it, and not the separate outer piece i need
and all i can establish is it has to be something of similar age and FWD, as RWD would mate to a driveshaft which these clearly dont, and anything newer than the escort would have wheel studs, and not threaded holes
if this is a quick obvious answer please dont shoot me down, but i really am quite confused here, and desperate for an answer

well i kno for sure the lower spec models with the smaller drum dnt do the trick, as they have the hub part i need cast as 1 with the drum shell, with the wheel holes threaded into the drum shell
so i guess my informants have been wrong and its an rs turbo part i need, i hope

so its basically any model that ran the larger diameter drum, so pretty much anythin non popular, bonus, L, etc?
but clearly not the van as this van item is marginally bigger, i guess for a bigger bearing for load carrying

you would think so wouldnt u lol
but with me not wanting a complete hub, nobody will split, and the few that will wana charge a premium for something most people would just scrap with a shell anyways, and then try and tell me its gonna cost 15quid for delivery........
1 bloke 'kindly' offered me a great deal, 40quid!!!!! erm, think i wil wait n search the scrap yards n breakers n grab 1 for a fiver or something realistic lol
