Default Drive shaft lengths?

As a few of you know I have just put a newer cvh engine in my s2 and was driving out the teething probs the other evening when the driveshaft decided to pop out. Thought the clutch cable had snapped first but checked and it was in tact and moving the arm back when depressed.

Looked underneath and there was box oil all over the floor which meant to me that the drive shaft had snapped or come out.

The aa man towed me to my mates garage as all my tools and ramps are at work, he got it up today and said the driveshaft needed to be knocked back in but it looks a little stretched and he thinks it may come out again.

I know the haynes says that you need to prize the driveshaft off when taking it out so was wondering if i just didnt put it back in far enough. I have also bypassed the abs and havent cut the belts yet but dont think that would make a difference.

Is there any difference between 90 and 88 spec driveshafts? I dont think there is but it made me wonder when he mentioned it looked stretched

They are all the same mate, if you hadnt put it back in the box properly you'd have been leaking oil from the start. Really is a strange one!
Did you refit the lower arm ball joint properly? Cant see why else a drive shaft would come out.

had sort of a prob like yours, i thought the shaft had gone back in but it was slighly fouling the abs mount, the metal mount what loops around and underneath drive shaft.

yeah i rang him and he said it was lowered so looks stretched and also he hit it back in with a soft mallet so it wont come out again i reckon.

Cheers Karlos, Mike and Bezo!

And yes it is pretty low... my brother was in it with me and he said " A fucking go Kart feels like a monster truck compared to this"

It made me smile rather humbly!

yeah i hope it does too mate and thanks!

As for it popping out, it cant once its engaged on the final drive and it was knocked in this time so should be good!
After that its just a leaking brake servo, ripping the modulators out and im ready to start washing it on the drive on sunday afternoons YIPPPEEEEE.
Got to sort the boot out too, putting a very discreet sound system in there, that is easily removable for racing and trackdays!
