i just came back from the garage after dropping my rs turbo 50mm on uprated dampers and cobra shocks.. i did the backs the other night and werent very happy with the outcome, also sits slightly lower on the fuel tank side.

Did the fronts today and am mega impressed, its nice and low, handles beautifully. Its still riding high at the back though, I have stripped the back seats out but surely that wont make a difference? Any ideas why it is like this and slightly higher on the non fuel tank side. I thought it could be the weight of the fuel but surely that wont make a difference as the car is balanced?

im glad about that cos it is odd looking at the minute... probably not noticeable from passers by but it is too me as i sweated to get the badgers in lol!

Whatever people say,springs do not suddenly decide to lower the required amount after 2 weeks,on the road they will settle in after 2 mins...something is wrong

I dont agree mate, with every set of springs i've fitted on numerous cars they always drop/settle over the first couple of weeks.
The springs having never been under load for any length of time before, the metal will stretch ever so slightly but it's enough to notice the difference!

make sure you have them on the right way round too..

thanks for the input guys, they are seated correctly and on the right way, i have checked them. As we speak they are looking lower, think it is just a matter of time before they settle in nicely.

i fitted a set of p.i. springs on my s2 years ago and that sat high at the back. i drove around with two bags of sand in the boot to help settle them in quicker. two weeks later i took out the sand bags and the car sat perfect. kit was only -25mm though.

thanks babs cossie, well i aint got bags of sand in there but may as well have, got a jack, 2 axle stands, the old springs, and loads of shit, lol..... itll soon be low, the side that was high has joined the other on height levels so at least i know its going down... People told me that 50mm is too much and the handling goes to shit but to be honest i was testing it today and it aint me being biased, if i thought it was shit id take it off. Planted it coming off a roundabout and i could feel all wheels drifting, was so progressive and smooth, just controlled it on the throttle, bit of opposite steer and it was away... Its definately a different beast but way more fun to throw about now! Im happy with it, its like a go kart but with a turbo

got mine lowering 60mm i believe, by previous owner, hard as hell on bumps etc, but by god is it fun, sticks to the road when nailing round roundabouts and never lets go.
i cant even fit anything over 15' inch alloys either.

Mines the same mate, Droped on 60mm Coilovers. Handles like a dearm it wasnt lowered before on standard springs and it handled like shit, back end steping out like anything and now its mint, agreed. 60mm is a hard ride but good for keeping traction on the roads.

i had a go at my standard RS wheels and it wont fit. too low for 15s. im running 17s so its all good

i lowered mine 60mm n it sat slighty higher at the rear, took 2mins for them to settle like not 2weeks!
