Default Blown Turbo gasket....

Out Sat' a'noon for a blast & come off a roundabout behind two lads in an Evo, both go for it up the bypass. Up his arse the whole way, hit 5th pull out, get upsides & inching past @ an indicated 145mph when bang from under the bonnet, ease off and after pulling into the BP garage finding just a blown gasket between turbo & exhaust manifold .......

Need a new one pronto to make the most of the dry weather, and the new kid in my Ford dealer ain't got a scooby what he's doing...

So anyone know the finis code for the Turbo/Manifold gasket???

Any help appreciated
Cheers

yeah but you will have to have the surfaces checked and skimmed if you dont want to fit one.

I use one of these cheapy ones and had no problems running 15psi for the last 18months on my old engine.

Get a better one off of burton power- has a section that compresses and creates a good seal- seam to work fine everytime i've fitted one
the one i fitted looks more substantial than both them off ebay as well

unless you remove both manifold and turbo and then strip the turbo to send the turbine housing and the manifold for skimming to get both surfaces absolutely smooth , no gasket will not work

what i do is smooth both faces as best i can with some sandpaper and then use a garret metal gasket with a smear of Fire Gum both sides. allow it to skin for a couple of hours , then start the car without touching the throttle and use the heat of the xaust gas to harden it

What i would do is find a piece of tough glass and glue a seet of emery to the surface. Then i would sand the face until smooth remembering to regulary changing the direction you are sanding to keep it flat and uniform. It takes a while but it works a treat
