smoking !!!! valve stem oil seals ?
wel usal escort problems, the motor used to smoke and it was down to a shagged turbo, got a brand new freshly rebuilt stg2 t3 and fitted it,all ran good ect, then its started smoking again, i took my ic off and cleaned it out(full off old oil) then started it up and was sweet as fuck, but now when i let it idle then go it smokes and if im in say 2 going down a hill and the cars slowing down with the revs it smokes badly, valve stem oil seals ?????????

how long have you had the car running with the new turbo? i changed a turbo on a car at work. it took over a week to clear. maby you should consider a compression test? or a cilinder leak test to see if you getting any leak past the rings??
good luck

Is it not possible you still have oil in the exhaust, i'm sure it takes time to clear just as it did with water in the exhaust when my head gasket went.
Does it do it when cold and idling as it would if it was the stem seals on there way out.

Yeah because the oil seeps past whilst it's stood up and so burns when you first start up.
If it smokes when driving (backing off the throttle) and your turbo is good I would be thinking piston rings maybe.

its a brand new block! brand new piston rings have done several compresion tests and all come back 110-120 1.8zvh skimed pistons
am fed up wi shitty escorts honestly need some words to keep me working on it

Well basicly if your smoking (blue smoke) it's oil and it can only come from 3 places, Stem seals, Piston Rings, and Turbo!
So it's got to be one of those!
Unless there is some other way for oil to get into the chambers and burnt that i cant think of?

piston rings maybe? have you tryed a wet compression test??
I use to get 110psi outta my previous engine and it was shot to bits(2.0 cvh).

was about to say rings could be worn, but it would smoke all the time, well, not so much on boost with load.
i had an engine doing this and the rings were fooked, but so was the turbo too.
try another turbo and see if still smokes, alternatively, block the oil feed to the turbo and remove turbo and manifold and run engine without the turbo fitted.
if it smokes when revving up and down, then it's the engine that's goosed, otherwise it's the turbo.
also take the exhaust housing off the turbo and check for oil down behind the exhaust turbine.
also the compression tests point to knackered rings, mine gets between 150-160 on a 1.8 zvh.

just to add, if it is the turbo, then if/when you replace it, buy a new oil feed line.
they're only £20 delivered off the bay and will give piece of mind incase the turbo has had a short life due to starvation of oil pressure at some point.

do a wet test mate- drop a small amount of oil in the chamber before you do the compression test- if it improves alot it means the rings have had it
mine didn't cus the HG was was gone and head was warped but if its rings it will.
