I know its probably been asked a thousand times before, but....................

I'm in the process of upgrading my brakes. Braided hoses, cossie 2wd discs and 4wd calipers etc.

I'm also looking to remove the ABS as it is er...... not the best thing out there!!

My question is, has anyone who has done this had any problems in the car then getting throught an MOT??
Just a thought that the MOT information states the car should have ABS and if it doesn't have it anymore??? You the the picture!

mine failed cos i cut the belts.but some places arent bothered and dont notice if the bulb has ben taken out lol.my mates passed like this. i then removed mine and it went strait thru with an advisory saying abs removed

If you remove it fully, all i did was keep the plug that comes off and joined the wires together and the light still comes on and off when it should.

cossie 2wd discs and 4wd calipers are you putting them on the front then if so you will be oks ,but if you are going to put them on the back i would use 2wd calipers !!

I'm going to remove the whole lot of the ABS, so with the lot out of there it should be ok.
Denbo, mate. I'm only doing the fronts and leaving the drums on the back, my theory is if you put too much braking power at the back end thats when it tries to get tail happy.

but surely if you have too much braking at the front the back can still go light, its has to balanced

Thats what I thought.. But the back end has the load compendator valves which cut the brake line fluid feed to the back end when the front of the car dips under braking.

Therefore automaticaly reducing the load available for the rear brakes anyway??

Unless i'm totally wrong about this....and the rear compensators have to be removed???
But I don't think its the case as without them, as soon as the rear lightens it will lock up, and then chuck me into a field, lampost etc?!?!?

the drums on the back work fine imo, no need to epgarde unless you want it to look good ar have really silly power and you are willing to spend more money setting it up right

hi im an mot tester and your car would pass fine with the abs removed so long as it is removed completly and not just with the belts taken off hope this helps

Have decided though my best route is to cut a big hole in the floorpan and buy some good boots?!?!?!?!?!?!

Will be removing the abs stuff this week!
