I’m new here but have heard great things about this forum.

Right, Basically my car went into Motorsport Developments in Blackpool 2 weeks ago and had a setup etc. Everything was fine except i was told the turbo is on its way out and that’s the reason for the howling.

I went to drive it today, and as i accelerated the car started to jerk as though i was not in a high enough gear and wouldn’t boost basically, but if i drove without putting my foot down and kept below 5psi then the car was fine.

I decided to drive it for about 20minutes without the Turbo and then put my foot down again, i got to 7psi and it started jerking and backfiring and just would boost. Also the howling was a little louder than normal.

Is this the turbo shot at as described by Motorsport? I would appreciate any input to this little problem of mine.

i think there is a guy at blackpool that recons turbos. id recomend a new one tho mate works out cheaper in the long run. stage 1 t3 from turbotecnics are around 500

I would go with Vince at CR Turbos really good fella, or ask MSD if they can recommended anyone

ok guys i think i may go with a new one if i can afford. Is it hard to fit for a novice? i mean once up on ramps is it a big/hard job removing the old and putting in the new?

No such thing as a 'cheap' turbo mate If you skimp on cost to buy a new one or a untested used one, you'll end up either buying a proper new one or spending money rebuilding the used one.

But there are bargains to be had. Just keep away from the chocolate ones on ebay

The hard bit is getting out the siezed nuts and bolts, and if you're unlucky like me the bolts that have no head any more.
