Default turbo over heating please help

the water pipe snapped of the bottom of my turbo yesterday however there was a stub left where i could get the pipe back on
so i did this but now after refilling my rad water the turbo is glowing red after a drive and it is not boosting at all
is this due to the water pipe?
do i need a new one to replace the old one?
im going to replace it anyways but i need something to keep me goin till the new one arrives
any ideas any one?

Sounds to me like you overheated the Turbo/engine when you lost your water mate, so long as the water is circulating with your pipe as it is it should be fine!

When the pipe for the turbo went was the engine running? If the engine got too hot from losing all the water when the pipe went you could of caused a number of issue with the block. Does it run ok on tick over? You could of done the rings hence why the boost pressure wont build up. Take it to a garage for a pro to look at.

thwe pipe was loose and leaking but when i pulled it off water went every where so im guessing that it aint cooked the block
it feels like timing cos it boosts now and again 1st is fine second is dead 3rd varys and 4th an 5 are no fgood either
really annoyi g me now tho.i took the oil cap of and it ran exellantly boosted well and everything i then put it back on and it went crap again so i took it back of and it was still crap.is it possible i have a blockage?

When you take the oil filler cap off you introduce a vacuum leak which will normally cause these to cut out.. if it 'fixes' your problem, then that's a pointer to something else that's wrong.

Your turbo isn't overheating, they're supposed to glow (when ragged).. If your timing has slipped seriously and its retarded your spark timing, then perhaps that'd cause unnecessary glowing (eg, under normal use)...

I'd get a qualified mechanic to look at it.. preferably someone that specialises in these cars.. the turbos dont require the water cooling.. (although losing all your water from a broken pipe isnt going to help your engine).
