Look on the xe pistons fopr a number. usually under the crown. If it containes a letter 'P' then they are forged pistons. In early pre 1990 xe's they used forged pistons and forged cranks. They later used cast.

In what engine ?

XE ones will give a cr of 7:4.1 in a zvh and 8:1 in a zetec

and good for 400 bhp if they are the early forged type
