doing the rings and pistons on my rst,

gona order the parts i need on monday, using burton power i think ??

cant aford forge ect so standard rings pistons are going back in,(heads off and bores are in excelent nick)

gona order the fowoling,

rings
pistons
headbolts
head gasket
sump gasket,,

should i get new shells and conrod bolts ?

oh and btw the water pump tensioner and belt hav jst been replaced and been used for around 3miles top haha,

 

I would get new shells and conrod bolts would get some arp rod bolts there about Ł70 though i think...

 

i would buy the head set imo. you may aswelkl change all the gaskets while its off to eliminate airleaks. If it leaks then it will have to be took apart again

 

Big end bearigs, IMO.

 

you missed off a timing belt!

all gaskets, bearings and conrod bolts and head bolts (preferably arp). also if you dont know the condition of the oil pump id replace that aswell as its the heart and soul of your engine, if that fails, all your money is down the pan.

while your at it and the heads off you may as well change the stem seals, also id get the rubber gaskets for the sump and rocker cover and id also get a new thermostat and 2 x oil filters and all the lubricants too while your ordering coz obviously youll be running it in and then doing an oil change.

if you want to be really thorough replace any nuts and bolts youve undone too which might of been your rocker bolts, sump bolts and manifold studs and nuts.

why you changing the pistons?are they melted,det marks?
no need to if not required

 

pistons look fine but thot itl b best to replace, but looks like im gona have to take th engine out n get the bores done as they hav a very small lip where the rings hav stopped,




any1 no if i can take the block out without and leave gearbox in ?

looks very tight haha
