boost guage will only show boost pressure when there is load on the engine, ie driving and will show negative vacum on idle..

well thats right i hope....

i thought that the needle should sit at 0 and go up the clock when i rev the car?

atm the needle drop to -20/-25 psi (bottom of the clock) and when i rev the car, it goes back to 0 psi

On idle mine sits around -15 which is correct i think, and when revving in neutral its goes up and down.. But not above 0 because its no geting driven!

when i had a 2L turbo tomcat, the needle sat at 0 when it was not being rev and went up the clock when you rev or drove the car,

is this not the same on the escort?

the car will run a vacuum when idling or not on load- mine sits at -25/20 increasing to 0 and into positive pressure when the turbo boosts

looks like it's quite normal, i thought you should get a little boost when you rev is that high, but just go out on the road.

The negative on idle is normal you're car should go on the streets in till 0,5 bar boost +, whenn it's standart

it wont go up untill you drive it mate, mies sits at -25 then 0 on revving then goes into + when hitting boost,

take it off the top of the inlet tho mate, less hose= less pipe to vaccum

Take the feed from the plenum/inlet manifold.

As above mine sits on -15 on idle, then starts to move as it comes on boost.

You took the feed from the dump valve? So you will only see pressure when the dump valve vents?

As above, take the feed from the plenum. (T into one of the little thin pipes that comes off the top of the plenum)

IIRC mine is T'd into the boost pipe that goes to the ECU, behind the heater box so you cant see it...

which in turn could falsify the reading to the fuel computer and casue a fuel issue?

Just the same as taking it from the plenum?
Been like that for over 10 years, never had a problem

There's no air escaping towards the gauge, so no drop in pressure. So in my opinion no falsify reading of any computer
