S2 Buying Advice
I'm in the process of selling my MK6 Fiesta to fund the purchase of a S2 RST. Hopefully my viewing will start soon.
I have a few people I know who will come with me to check over the car, but are there any less obvious things I should be looking out for?
My budget will be approx £4500 and I'm keen to get the best example I can, however the car will be driven virtually every day and will not be garaged.
Fire away with any advice you have

you should get a pretty good example for that kinda money mate but make sure you do check over the car thoroughly as alot of things can be missed when your lost in the moment looking for an rs.
one thing though, id never have my rs parked outside, if i didnt have a garage myself i would never of bought mine and spent what i have on it.
good luck
dave.

as you know old ford= rust!!
check everywhere, battery tray, fuse box, chassis rails etc etc......
check condition of seats, you can replace all foam apart from the cape foam and backrest, so as long the back alright then you can replace the rest.
parts are getting harder to find now so make sure you get the best one for your money.
i would personally stay away from heavilly modded ones and go for a more standard example, my experiance is that modded are not always what they say on the tin and thats being nice about them
check floor number make sure no welding or anything suspect is there.
open sunroof check for rot around there.
good luck finding one

It'll be parked on our driveway which is set right back from the main road with plenty of foliage between it and the road to keep it out of sight.
Ideally I'd love to have it garaged, but unfortuately I don't have that luxury

well buddy i sold my mk6 st for a s2 turbo and paid 4500 for it
and i bought a modded 1 if i could go back i would go for a pretty nice standardish 1 again most common prob on old fords are the red death
which can be found pretty much everywhere when i bought mine i got caught up in exitment and ended up buying 1 with rotten sills althought everything else on the car is good allround most of the posts before mine explain the worst places for this, also check you have some history on the car and its a real rs not a bonus shelled 1
good luck bud there is a lot of nice cars out there but also some dogs so be carefull when handing your cash over

even a 4k car could have this lot, this 1 looked fine on the face of it but you look behind stuff and she was a bad un (this car was taxed and tested and recently bought for 2grand (i gave 400))

4500 will buy you an AWFUL LOT of S2
My advice would be join the RS Owners club then contact the S2 Registrar
who will put you in touch with owners of cars he knows are good
you won't even have to mess around with 19 year old idiots on
ebay.
The difference between a good moderately tuned S2 and
a fiesta ST is vast. Buy the Fiesta and you'll probably end up thinking
what have I done.....?
Mind you if you can't garage the RS don't buy one.

Personally if i didn't have a garage i would not be buying an mint S2 at £4.5k - £5k cause it will just end up like the very very vast majority of them out there rotten!
Have you got room for a garage? If so why not put the extra money you were going to put towards an ST towards a garage then buy an S2?

i wouldnt be able to live with 1 but company cars have spoilt me
then again i only have shitters for drivers neways, if you wanted to go anywhere you turned the key with crossed fingers but thats how i like em, any nice 1's i end up mothballing away where they arttract dust til i get an offer and get em gone again, lots of em ive never driven, get em droppped of on a truck, in the store then they only come out again when i get a good swap or offer
