ULTIMATE CVH HEAD
hey everyone,
this may start a bit of debate but ive always wondered who makes the ultimate cvh head ????.
alot of people on here have, over time, used various companies for there heads from jamsport to nms, one mans stage isnt anothers as there isnt strictly a standard for different stages when it comes to heads if im right but with the amount of modded cvh`s on this site, input from as many people as possible may just point me in the right direction, if and when, i want a new head.
thanks in advance
dave.

no one has ever had all the tuners best flowing cvh heads and tried them on the same car on the same day to see which one produced the most power so this would be a question that no one would know the answer to.
going from a standard mfi head to a ported head you would see a huge improvement and then that head would be recommended to all, and because a car does the numbers does'nt mean the cylinder head the best there are so many other factors to take into account. But you wont go wrong acquiring a head from nms, area six, pumaracing, cnc heads, jamsport and a few others i have'nt mentioned they all achieve vast improvements over standard...

i agree a mag test would be great for all us customers but i doubt it would happen as if one came out clearly on top then the others may loose business coz of it so for that reason even if a mag wanted to do a test tuners, that would be willing to put one of there heads forward for testing, would be thin on the ground..........would certainly be an interesting feature though if it did go ahead.

Jamsport ran a back to back test in performance ford in july 2006.Standard head with a standard cam, then a ported head with standard cam then ported head with a piper cam. Total improvement with piper cam and ported head was 48BHP. I belive Nick from the mag still has it on his car.

To be fair,
- The std head needed to be cleaned, checked and rebuilt before test,
- A new std cam, followers, valve springs needed to be fitted,
- both cams needed the lobes checking for lift before and after the tests,
- both cam's needed to be timed correctly with a vernier,
- C/r's needs to be measured and adjusted till both the same.
- The same boost, AFR, and ACT needed to be log and seen
- the only things that should be changed, ign timin needs setting, and fueling needs to be set to the same AFR.
