bonnet catch

hey there folks thought id ask a question in the right room for a change
just had my mate on the phone saying that his bonnet catch is stuck.says it feels like its still trying to open but not doing anything at the front panel end
is there any tricks or easy ways of getting it open.just thought id ask on here before i have to go down and fook about with it.any help would be great

has the cable snapped?
best thing to do is to jack up the car whilst the engine is cold then get underneath with a pair of long nose pliers and reach up and grab the part of the catch that the cable attaches to and pull it across so the bonnet opens

if you got slim arms might be able to do it by hand instead same as above but just get you arm as far up as you can and u should be able to manually open bonnet without the need for pliers

cheers guys.hadnt seen the replys but my other mate got in to in a couple of secs with the longest pair of pliers id ever seen were about 2 foot long
but done the job easy enough.
and yeah the cable had snapped but also came of at the bonnet end so he couldnt get grips on to the bit left in the car
