Default Advice on EFI Conversion

Can anyone give me some pointers on an EFI conversion for my D reg series two.

I'm gonna get the engine rebuilt over the next couple of months but was wondering if its worth swapping to efi management while i'm on.

What bits do i need, to do the conversion properly and if any one has any opinions on how to do it the they would be much appricieated as well.

An if anyone has done it whats it like to drive.

cheer folks and merry christmas

I'm putting weber L8 on mine over the next few months, have a look on here: http://oddkiddcreations.co.uk/forum/index.php

Everyone seems to rave on about it, more people can map weber than most other systems too and sensors and most bits are really easy to get hold of

That is wrong you know. Not that many can map Webber Marrelli. Aftermarket systems can be mapped by anyone at all.

More people can map Marrelli than EEC OFAB/C if that is what you mean.

Although many after market systems can be mapped by anyone trying to find professionals willing to do this with some 'after market systems' can be difficult, no matter what end of the country I am in I can find someone willing to map, support and work on Webber management... Wiltshire, Blackpool, Essex and Middlesex to name but a few area's... This is without mentioning the vast amount of experience people have with this management.

When I was researching management, popular after market choices often recommended on this forum have limited numbers of professionals willing to map them by comparison

The Gotech ECU is a stand alone ECU, which allows you to MAP the car for any configuration of parts, and if you change any componant you just tweek the map, not have to buy a new chip.
You also get a new engine loom so you dont have to use a 13+ year old loom.

But its not Ford!

They both will make the same power (down to the tuner)

Jamsport has fitted over 150 Gotech ECUs over the last 6 years and I cant think of any reliability issues.

i would go for gotech myself alot more features than ofab like closed loop lambda sensor etc and ofab drinks fuel when mapped for high power

plus that what simon (SaS) was using when he did 166 mph in his zvh

You can run closed loop, dizzyless, etc with cossie management which can be mapped by more experienced people at vastly more locations across the UK

Although Simon used Gotech when he did 166mph its not what he is using now with his new engine although I do not know the reason for this, I expect there is one.
I believe that Oli was also not using Gotech when he did 173.5mph with his CVH

The best advise you can give anyone who is looking for management is to find who you want to map your car and take their advise regarding what they are most experienced with, every management system has good and bad points
