nosey insurance company
Hi guys this isn't really a car problem more of insurance problem, just insured my escort RS turbo on a classic policy and they wanted to know my full life history! nosey buggers. They have asked me if i was a member of any car clubs or organisations and i put passion ford and now they want a membership no but can't seem to find one.Does anyone know how to get the number or do i have to be a full member.Any help would be greatly appreciated

they usually ask these sort of questions to see if your an enthusiast or not, most people who insure on classic policys are members of a club, go to local meetings, that sort of thing. hence they will look after the car more [well generally ]
i dont think passionford will hold the same value as a car club like the RSOC as its just a forum

Some insurance companies take it quite seriously if you are a member of a club like the RSOC. My insurance believes that you are an enthusiast that will take more care of your car if you are a member of a club.
I tend to agree.
I would say that the vast majority of RS cars are owned by enthusiasts that know what they have. Very rare that someone owns an RS car without knowing what it is and running it into the ground these days.

Take the late RS2000's or focus. I would bet the majority of these owners weren't/ aren't bothered about any club or history and use them as day-to-day cars and not at all bothered about them in the way we are. To them it is just a car to drive that looks a bit different & sporty.
Admittedly there will be a % of these owners who will take a great deal of care over the car and not use it like some people may, but I tend to think the 70's and 80's car owners are more owned by an enthusiast in comparison. There's a lot of owners who buy a car just because they have the money and it's the best one to get (same reason people bought/ buy Evos and Imprezas - they're not all interested in joining a club & going to shows. They have the money and want a quick car and bought that one because they can.
