Hi,
has anyone on here converted a XR3i (Efi model) into a RS turbo.
If so what do you need, I know you need an RS Turbo engine, Turbo, Intercooler etc, But what about wiring?? I have the ECU already.

i would do a mix of fiesta turbo bits and escort

engine loom inlet and ecu(ofac) from the fiesta

gearbox turbo from the escort

that would be easier cause you already got the efi loom

 

Thanks for your help, I was wondering if a RS turbo ECU would just plug straight into the XR3i loom without any mods??
I am thinking of buying a Mint XR3i I have seen and converting it to a RST thats all.

 

no it wont work cause the erst is mfi

frst is efi

 

you can EFi an ERST, but it costs alot.
best of buying a proper escort rs turbo instead.

 

as above try and buy a rs turbo as the cost of converting the car to turbo plus the fact that the ins will be the same as a rs turbo and it will be worth less than a rs turbo when u come to sell it on makes it not a very worthwhile conversion

 

wont cost much at all to do as i done it to mine, exhaust sytem Ł80 (i have one for sale) use ofab ecu from fiesta as it is better) 2.5 bar map sensor, need to change i think 2 pins in wiring for it to control boost, change rad and fan(i have too) then you'll need boost pipes etc, i converted my 1.1 to run fiesta turbo for around Ł400, but would def go forward using efi instead of mfi, more options available

 

if your cab is efi now. all you need is ofab ecu ofab map sensor a few pin changes and make sure you get an fista turbo lump pice of cake done it lotss of times
