I have a drawer full of old dumpvalves. Even at 25psi mine runs without one. Would rather walk than have the car sound like a bus

Ahhh don't be so hard on them poor little dumpers...

I've got one aswell. Haven't fitted it at the moment but I will certainly put it on the car again next season. My mind seems to change how I think about them like every two weeks. Either the bus brake noise makes me grin for hours or I just feel embarassed because people will think I'm a chav. In the end there are far more cars with even more embarassing dump valve imitation things out there...

I use one, but its only a small one!

Its just for safety, dont want to give the thrust bearings on the turbo a hard life.

I have recently removed my dump valve due to runing problems (major rich when dumping!) if you think about it the fuel is matched the air then the air goes away! wooo rich running car!

How many Garret turbos are you aware of that have been damaged due to not running a dump valve
What damage do you believe can be done by the turbo stalling on the amount of boost you are capable of fueling on a RST ?

If this was a problem do you not think ford would have fitted dump valves to the RST themselves.
The piston style dump valve was actually developed to overcome the running problems caused by running a normal diaphragm based dump valve on the RST which causes erratic idle.

I have one on mine, doesn't cause any problems at all, definately helps with the lag between gear changes (As it's meant to!) and I quite like the sound.

No I'm not a chav either, it serves a purpose for me!

Imitation BOV's are gay tho

.

All GT turbo's are only garrentee'd if dumpvalve and water cooling is fitted, due to the failure it will cause from not running either on any engine.

and on carb turbo's, if no dump valve is fitted, over fueling is a big issue on over run.

He said Garret Turbos not GT series turbos. I'm yet to see an RST Garret turbo fail as a result of no DV at any boost pressure.

On an RST they do cause rough running and from experience tend to make the car more laggy. imho you would need your head reading to even think about putting a DV on an RST.

Some cars do require there use like big turbo Escort Cossie's as it upsets the fueling running without.

I know my A4 must retain it's recirc valve and the use of an atmospheric DV isn't recomended (not that I would conmsider it anyway).

He said Garrett turbo's, not only garrett 't series' or not inc 'garrett GT series'.

Fair comment But in reality their are few RST's running GT series turbos and I made the assumption we were talking about the standard format turbo's..

My error though as assumptions are pretty poor things

Yes I am aware that many vehicles including the Focus RS have recirculation type valves as they require them for the type of turbo they have, but as stated Ford never fitted them to the MFI RST as they were not and are not needed
