boost

my boost gauge flickers on idle.cud i hav an air leak sumhere.and has any of u guys fitted an external wastegate to standard t3 ,wot wud i benefit .or cant it be done unless u r running 300 bhp

Check air hoses for leak. Maybe hose from metering head to turbo. Or vacum on inlet mainfold plenum (you will have higher idle if remove vac pipe).

Some gauges do flicker on idle.

But you can pressure test the boost system.

No point fitting a external wastegate on below 260 bhp @ least.

yes I forgot, my old mechanic gauge oscilating a little. And present gauge sometimes oscilating but if engine revs dont oscilating I think it will be ok.
