Default What dampers?

Morning,

A while ago one of the front springs snapped in half (had no idea till the car was on the ramps after I could hear a strange sound when going over speed bumps).
I got a new set of front springs on and I thought all was well ... but I think I was wrong.
I think the damper in that corner has also broken, its a Koni Top Adjustable, well apart from the adjustable bit as it's almost impossible to turn the top. Also when discovering new pot holes there's an alarmingly loud bang from that corner as if there's no spring at all.

I've thought of just replacing the dampers (both) with new Koni Top Adjustables (£90 each from Burton) ... unless there's any other to try?

The car is used for road/fast road no track action involved.

hi,not being able to turn the top means its just stiff /siezed------ (dont use plastic the koni top adjusting tool you will just knacker it up)
loosing oil/pressure???-leaks? these are more of an indication-

I don't rember seeing any leaks from when the springs were replaced.

I guess the sound it makes when going over a bump etc sounds as if the damper is seized (as if there is no suspension what-so-ever).
The corner that the damper is on is slightly lower than the working side, and I'm unable to make that corner bounce (by leaning on it then jumping off) .... the top of the wheel in that corner is also pointing inwards more than the otherside.

I'll check in the morning to make sure it's not the way I'm parking (just in case )

Sounds like a cheap alternative, but I use the car everyday (only form of transport).

I've also noticed that the passenger side front (where the damper I think needs replacing) seems to scrub on full lock turning right.

Car went into the garage today and came out pretty much the same as it went in (things were fixed tho)

One of the rear wheel bearings was was definately gone, and the other was almost giving up ... so they were replaced.
Front driver side lower arm joint was forked, so that was replaced too.

The guy at the garage said to try it and see if the noise is still there ... and it still is.

The noise is still there and has got worse (it was getting worse yesterday), there's a constant thudding noise and feeling going through the seats over 40mph. The worn bearing soung is still present. When braking the steering wheel wobbles slightly, and I'm sure tha car isn't going round corners as it should do. Have also noticed the car is pulling to the left quite a bit now, and the steering wheel is almost at 90degree's to the left in order to keep the wheels straight.

I need any sort of dampers now as I'll get the front bearings (or whatever the hell is broken now) fitted.
The car certainly doesn't sound safe to drive at the mo, so I might end up taking it to the garage tomorrw and renting a car till the end of the week when hopefully (with your help ) the dampers would arrive.
