a chip to raise the boost limit, a bar of boost and a healthy engine will do 180 no problem.

No, the engine can be left totally std.

I would fit a bigger intercooler if you can afford it. The std engine will then do 200hp if well setup and healthy. It will also be consistent. With the std intercooler and a bar of boost, once u are on boost for more than a few seconds, the air heats up, the ignition retards, and power drops off.

Any front mount inter will be gr8.

Airtech is you best bet @ low cost, then you can get pro Alloy, Radtech, and i believe the GRS to be best for ACT's.

as said. u could go for the airtec one which is good VFM but not necessarilly the best performer - ok for circa 200bhp. I believe the GRS one is (one of) the best for keeping ACT's down, so if you decide in the future you want more bhp (you WILL decide this! lol) then there will be no need to upgrade the intercooler when wanting to run more boost.

I would personally get a GRS cooler and know that the part of things is then done, without having to worry about possibly upgrading it in the future when you get the thirst for more power!

if your rebuilding it why not get the std pistons machined down to lower the CR? I would seeing as it's coming apart...

Yeah i agree no need to lower comp!
Shouldnt ever really need to do that unless your going silly boost, and even then if its set up properly it isnt really needed, bit of an oldskool way of preventing detonation.
