Default Desperate for help.......someone?

Hi guys heres the thing. I fitted my fully rebuilt fiesta rs turbo engine into my mk2 orion in june and it still aint going right yet. Probs are backfiring from exhaust as tho its rich, and a rattle under load and accelrating. Done tons of work stripping it and even sent head away for full recon to no avail. What im looking for now is a fresh pair of eyes as i am now out of ideas. Anyone live around clydebank / glasgow area in scotland that loves, and knows a bit about these engines? If so please get in touch. Alternativley does anyone know any companies that deal with fords etc only cause im not wanting to dump it into a small garage or dealer and get ripped off! Thanks

nope they always run extremely lively when they are lean........hence you always here.....it was going quicker than its ever gone, then it melted

also you never said in your first post it was when you throttled off ???
Probs are backfiring from exhaust as tho its rich, and a rattle under load and accelrating
to be fair i would go get it set up properly i.e cam ignition, fuelling etc

i spent a fortnight under and over my S1, asked hundreds of questions it was only through perceverence that i found a small hairline crack in the underside of my metering unit......however i will still get the on boost fuelling checked on it... proffesionally

hi again, yes it does not backfire when i rev it in nuetral, only when im driving at say 40mph in gear and let off the throttle so that the engine is braking, it then pops loudly and backfires. Also a bit burbly on idle form exhaust. drives great tho. would running lean possibly make a rattle under load from valves then? All your help much appreciate. Also wot would a full tune up and fuelling cost approx, is it expensive?

are you sure its the valves rattling or could it be pre-ignition or detonation ?

as both sound top endy, and both sound a little like dieselling when under load

Is it possible that detonation and preignition noises would be apperent from the moment the car fires up or would this normally not only show once the car is warming up?
mines making rattles from cold to warm from top end im sure, also noticed that when idleing and slowly increase the revs to approx 3k it start gong burbley from the exhaust and then backfires when letting the throttle off again, seems to be rough!

hi guys thanks for your help. i have boked it into ava at 11 am tommorow to get the basics set up as im still in the running in period, so dont want it rolling roaded yet. no rattle agt idle just when accelerating from idle up the rev range t 3500rpm ish and under load
hoping the noise would be detonation if running lean. would this also show even when engine is cold too?
