Default base idle on s1

could somebody tell me how to set the base idle on an s1

do you unplug anything to do it ?

also i have no knowledge of whats been done or who's done it to the engine but its peaking 20psi and holding 17psi.......i thought the normal mod was 14psi on these engines ?

does anybody have pics of a std s1 intercooler as mine looks deeper then all the others i have seen but it seems to be a genuine ford one

many thanks for anybodis help

There's a nurled knob with a spring on the right hand side of the inlet manifold (behind the rocker cover) which fits up into the manifold. Twist this gently and it will alter the idle.

Normal chipped bosot is around 14psi, but can be altered for more. Getting it checked on a tuner will check everything is ok boost/ fuelling wise.

No pics to hand, but standard cooler is approx same width as the rad. Pace coolers fit in the same place but are twice (roughly) as thick.

problem i got shawn is that its running all over the show on idle but goes like stink, if i wind that screw in (is that richening idle up or leaning it off, i am guessing richening) it comes onto 4 but then just bogs when you drive it, feels like your driving with the handbrake on

i am sure to set base idle on these( its been 20 years since i played with an injected cvh) you unplug one of the multiplugs, set the screw your talking about to 800rpm, then set co/hc , then plug it back in, but i cant remember which one you unplug or what sort of co/hc i should be seeing on a modded engine

as i think this desperatly needs setting up...........think its been owned by to many bodgers........if you could have seen some of the bodges on this engine......wires wound togethor, no tape, just wound, air leaks everywhere, and i now have a siren for a turbo lol.......but its slowly coming togethor, gonna run it till the tax runs out in december then strip and restore her

Winding that screw simply alters the idle, nothing to do with fuelling.
Air mix is altered by the screw underneath the air filter.

yes i realise its an air screw but there still must be a pattern to set these up , because if the the co/hc is miles out it will have an effect on the idle/air screw in the throttle body????
