Default Wiper problem

On my MK4 the wipers are playing up...... not going back to rest when switched off mid-wipe and the intermittant is erratic, somtimes wiping several times instead of once.

Had this problem on a MK4 years ago but back then a quick trip to the scrappy to get another whole mechanism was the easy option.... now you're lucky to find a MK4 in a scrappy at all let alone one with the parts you need!

Any ideas how I can fix the one in my car?

Earthing point looks as good as new, and I'm sure it didn't casue the problem in the other car I had... but I will still give it some further investigation....
