Default Running without ECU's on escort rst

Hi guys i have heard from someone that his mates yonks ago used to remove both of their ECU's off of there erst's and they would still run? I have converted my car to EFI and the engineering shop fudged up the inlet manifold and its going to take me forever to sort it out. It may be easier to sell off my EFI stuff and just chuck an airflow meter back on. I dont have the wiring available so i'm just wondering will it work and how do i do it and what problems are associated with this?

pretty sure without the ecu's and wiring/sensors the metering head wouldn't know its ass from its elbow so to speak- not viable imo

It is impossible to run without the silver ECU, as this acts as an ignition amplifier. It is "possible" to work without the Black fuel ECU.

If you are willing to get the car to manchester, i can get going any way u wish, mfi or efi.

Rick.

Yes one for the ignition ect.. and one for the fuel

Silver is the ignition ECU and the Black one is the fuel ECU

Ah right, i guess you could slap on a dizzy then. to get it working without the fuel computer would i need to have 2 connect up an electrical supply to fuel meter?
off the car the air-flow meter's flap won;t open, is this 'released' by fuel pressure or an electrical supply?

I am really skint atm and can't afford 2 put it on the road as it is. If this will work i can get it running for now and then go back to EFI later!

Its only a temp bodge for now.

Yea, i never bothered with a choke on the DCOE's, ive wired in a lambda sensor to an O2 meter on the dash. This might just be a quick fix until i can afford to finish the EFI installation. I may run it with a dizzy aswel and adjust the bob weights to get the right timing at higher rpm.

Can't you just source an original EFI inlet for now? Ł20 should get you one easy

I wish it was that easy, first of all its an MFI head and the main problem is that its in a kit car and ive spent a bit of cash modifying an inlet manifold to fit.
