Some opinions on my new RS mk4 - big pics
Hi all
Just bought this yesturday. It really needs some TLC, engine and so on is good but the bodywork is a bit crap imo.
I've wanted and RST for about 10 years now and ive also wanted to restore, one so im guessing this ticks all the boxes.
Looking for some advice on where to start and general opinions really.

Plan is to strip it right down to the shell after the summer. Im looking to get it totally standard and enter into some shows.
Its a big project but the end results should be worth it

doesn't look too bad mate, bit of rust in the normal places but it don't look too bad- just hope she hasn't got too much work needed underneath
you best bet for removing the paint is paint stripper and some scotchbrite abrasive pads

Bin the dump valve and that hideous aerial on the roof. Assess the situation more once you strip it down m8, RS Turbo bodykits are good at hiding rot and rust Check the sunroof too for rust
Most of the blue bit's can be replaced with chrome / standard items off Ebay, or spray them yourself
I personally prefer the '90 spec interior, rear spoiler, and front bumper but obviously that's down to you once you've got your hands dirty
Good luck with it m8

Thanks for all the replies guys.
TBH ive no idea about the differences in specs from year to year, is there a good site to compare?
I kinda like the dump valve This is the 1st performance car ive ever owned and I love the sound. But it will come of sharpish if it needs to.
As for all the painted crap in the engine, money is tight so ill be painting them myself. Thinking about red. Can the crossover pipe be painted? Planning on getting the engine sandblasted and mabey paint the bottom half black and the top red, then a black crossover pipe.
Not sure if that sounds shit but I can see it in my head and think it will look smart.
As for the arial, thats going Car will stay as it is until the end of summer, then all the fun begins.
