Default Starting problems!

Ok now I have had the car for a while and its been running for about 3 hours, (just before the headgasket blew) Now I have put it all back together for the second time, It now does not start, you turn the key it fires ito life then dies almost immediatly, it will keep running if I rev the car but I need to continously have the car above 3000 rpm to keep it running.

It has been suggested to me that it is the idle control valve, or the mixture, can anyone else suggest what is wrong. As i am getting fookin frustrated with the car

air leak on the inlet side, check by spraying wd40 round all joints revs will pick up if you spray it on a leaking joint.
